The Bangladesh Land Rights Network (BLRN) began its journey in 2014 with the launch of the “National Engagement Strategy (NES),” a four-year plan designed to address crucial issues in land governance in Bangladesh.
The Bangladesh Land Rights Network (BLRN) began its journey in 2014 with the launch of the “National Engagement Strategy (NES),” a four-year plan designed to address crucial issues in land governance in Bangladesh. The NES\BLRN focused on practical strategies and priorities for the International Land Coalition (ILC) and its partners to improve land access and resource rights for marginalized communities. Through this approach, BLRN identified six key focus areas, each aligned with the ILC’s ten commitments to people-centered land governance. BLRN is a multi-stakeholder platform led by national actors committed to addressing the complexities of land governance in Bangladesh. It connected with the ILC’s commitments as a guiding framework, prioritizing inclusivity, transparency, and fairness in land governance to support those most affected by land rights challenges.

The overarching goal of NLC Bangladesh, BLRN is to secure access to and control over land, water, and forests for marginalized communities such as the landless, Indigenous Peoples (IPs), women, and other marginalized groups. This primary goal has is a result of series of consultation and validation with both ILC members and their network, allies including with broader CSOs.
